About

The Heart of Wisconsin Hockey

WAHA is the USA Hockey affiliate for the state of Wisconsin, supporting players, coaches, officials and member associations from Mite to Midget — every age, every ability, every corner of the state.

Mission

Promote, develop and grow amateur ice hockey across Wisconsin — from a child's first stride to a lifelong love of the game.

Vision

An inclusive, safe and competitive hockey community where every Wisconsinite has a path to play.

Values

Respect, integrity, development, sportsmanship and service to the membership above all.

What We Do

Serving the Wisconsin hockey community

WAHA is run by volunteers — parents, coaches, officials and former players — who give their time so the next generation can fall in love with the game. Every season we sanction events, certify hundreds of coaches and officials, award equipment grants, and advocate for hockey at every level.

  • Sanction state-wide tournaments and playdowns
  • Certify USA Hockey coaches and officials
  • Award Mite equipment grants for first-time skaters
  • Operate girls', boys', and disabled hockey programs
  • Maintain the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame
  • Distribute Grass Roots and Try Hockey For Free grants
  • Provide SafeSport, background screening and risk-management support
  • Publish bylaws, rules and statewide playing standards
